Dr. Ted Mohr
Dr. Ted Mohr was much more than the veterinarian who cared for generations of pets at Black Forest Veterinary Clinic. He was the heart of the clinic’s history, a devoted veterinarian, community member, and steadfast champion for animals.
A Colorado native who grew up in Denver, Dr. Mohr attended Colorado State University, earning his undergraduate degree before receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1978. After graduation, he began his veterinary career in Phoenix, working in a small animal and equine practice. He eventually returned home to Colorado, where he worked in emergency medicine before spending 15 years practicing small animal medicine and surgery in Aurora.
In 1994, Dr. Mohr purchased Black Forest Veterinary Clinic and began a chapter that would become such an important part of both his life and the history of our clinic. For more than three decades, his dedication to his patients, their families, and the Black Forest community helped shape the clinic into the place it is today.
Dr. Mohr had a special passion for small animal medicine and believed deeply in the human-animal bond. His compassion, knowledge, quick wit, and genuine love for his patients made an impression on countless families. He became a trusted veterinarian to generations of clients and their beloved pets, many of whom returned to him year after year.
Although Dr. Mohr officially retired in December 2016, his dedication to the clients and patients of Black Forest Veterinary Clinic brought him back to practice on a limited schedule. Even in semi-retirement, he remained connected to the clinic and the people and animals who meant so much to him.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Mohr enjoyed baseball history, antiquing, and traveling. Over the years, his family included three beloved dogs and more than ten cats, including three clinic cats who became part of the Black Forest Veterinary Clinic family. Above all, he treasured his family and especially loved spending time with, and talking about, his four grandsons.
We are heartbroken by the loss of an incredible human being and an unwavering advocate for animals. Dr. Mohr dedicated his life to serving others with integrity, strength, compassion, and wit. His impact reaches far beyond the walls of this clinic. It lives on in the pets he cared for, the families he served, the colleagues he mentored, the community he loved, and the clinic he built.
Dr. Mohr's legacy is woven into the very fabric of Black Forest Veterinary Clinic. Every patient cared for, every family welcomed, and every act of compassion carried forward is a continuation of the foundation he created.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever a part of the Black Forest Veterinary Clinic family.
